Equipped with low-noise skewback propellers and a hull design engineered for minimal wash, the ‘Eye Spy’ ensures a gentle and non-intrusive approach to marine life encounters.
These innovations allow the engines to idle for extended periods without causing pollution and significantly reduce fuel consumption. Additionally, the use of flexible mounts decouples the engines from the hull, effectively reducing underwater noise and vibration, as noted by Dr McCouley from Curtin University’s Centre for Marine Science and Technology. This commitment to minimising environmental impact ensures that every journey aboard the ‘Eye Spy’ is not only exhilarating but also respectful to the marine ecosystem.

Brisbane Whale Watching’s magnificent catamaran ‘Eye Spy’ is guided directly to the whales thanks to aerial vision from a small Cessna 172 aircraft aptly named ‘Sky Spy.’
Using live onboard aviation radio communication, Sky Spy’s pilot will provide exact latitude and longitude of the whale’s location reducing transit time to the sighting grounds whilst also providing guests with live up-to-the-minute whale behaviour commentary.
